Although every person and every workplace is different, one element of the human condition that we all have in common is conflict.
As long as men and women exist and interact with one another, conflict will develop. Therefore, attempting to avoid all conflict is unrealistic. The goal is to learn how to avoid the conflicts you can and successfully deal with those you cannot.
Conquering Conflict will help the learner understand the effects of conflict, common causes of conflict, methods of identifying underlying causes, and techniques for successfully resolving conflict. You will gain insight about your own reactions to conflict and the impact these actions and reactions have on others. Topics include
- What is Conflict?
- Conflict and You
- Causes of Conflict
- Resolving Conflict
- Outcomes of Conflict Resolution
Perhaps the most important element of the book is the opportunity to apply the principle of real-life conflict situations. It does little good to read about techniques. The ability to deal more effectively with conflict develops with application and practice.
